Stuttgart’s tourism – Chinese Outbound Travelers lead

Stuttgart’s tourism sector continues to expand. With an increase in overnight stays of 4.9 percent it has registered a successful half-yearly balance.

With a total of 1,671,265 room nights and a rise of 4.9 percent in the first six months of 2015, the state capital has recorded a gratifying increase in the number of overnight stays with visitors from home and abroad. The peak month was June, with an above-average growth of 16.2 percent.

Whereas the domestic market remained relatively stable with a 1.8 percent increase in room nights, foreign markets showed a very strong growth rate of 12.7 percent in the first half of 2015. Once again, Stuttgart’s most important foreign market by far is the USA with some 70,000 overnight stays, followed by Switzerland in second place. Among Stuttgart’s principal foreign markets China leads the field as regards growth with an increase of 60 per cent, and now ranks in 3rd place as opposed to 8th place in the previous year.
